4. Our legal basis

Under the DPDP Act, we process your personal data:

  • With your consent, which you give at login through our consent notice. Marketing WhatsApp messages need a separate opt-in. You can refuse or withdraw it without losing access to the rest of the service.
  • For certain legitimate uses permitted by the DPDP Act without fresh consent — for example, where you have voluntarily given us data for a specific purpose (such as placing an order) or where the law requires us to keep records (such as GST invoices).

Withdrawing consent. You can withdraw consent at any time: in your account settings, by replying STOP to any marketing WhatsApp message, or by writing to our privacy contact (details to be confirmed). Withdrawal does not affect processing that already happened.

5. WhatsApp messages

  • We use WhatsApp to send your login OTP. This is necessary to log in.
  • We send transactional messages linked to your account and orders (quotes, order confirmation, payment receipt, dispatch, delivery, claim updates).
  • We send marketing messages only if you tick the separate marketing box. You can stop them any time by replying STOP or changing your settings.
  • Messages are sent through WhatsApp Business Platform (Meta) via our service provider. Details to be confirmed. Meta's own terms and privacy policy apply to your use of WhatsApp.

6. AI processing and cross-border transfer

The Calchemi assistant uses a large language model (Claude, provided by Anthropic PBC, USA) to understand your question and draft a recommendation.

  • When you ask a question, the text of your question and relevant context such as your trade and city is sent to Anthropic's servers, which are outside India.
  • We do not send your mobile number, GSTIN, or payment details to the AI model provider.
  • Under our agreement with the provider, it processes this data to return a response to us and does not use it to train its models (confirm against current commercial terms).

The DPDP Act allows transfers outside India except to countries the Central Government restricts by notification. As of the date of this policy no country has been restricted. We will update this section if a restriction affects a provider we use.
